First, even i was scared about all Matrimonial sites, I use to think how will i judge a person on net. But luckily (touch wood ) i got a very good and so caring partner. Wishing all my friends out here all the best for their future. Someone special is waiting for you out here. All thanks to DiabeticMatrimony.com

DEEPTI

Our daughter Deepti was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1 at the age of 13 years. It came as a shock for the whole family when the Doctor declared her a Diabetic child. She spent 17 days in the hospital. Lots of questions and confusions arose and we began questioning if it’s some kind of curse on the family? Is it curable? Daily 2 injections of insulin and to stop eating Ice cream & chocolates for a 13-year child was not easy. But she was brave enough to handle the situation with family support.

We informed about her in school and they were very cooperative too. Meanwhile, we started attending the Diabetes Awareness Camps and met Dr. Ashok Jhingan there. He formed a Diabetic Kid's Club where Deepti made few friends who were Type 1 Diabetic and together they learnt how to live with Diabetes in a normal and accepting manner. With the help of Dr. Jhingan & his club she was able to meet Dr. Abdul Kalam at the time of his Presidency, Sushma Swaraj, Kiran Bedi, Sharmila Tagore and Wasim Akram. She also met USA Miss Universe & Gaurav Kapoor ??" RJ & actor, as both of them were Diabetic and in their presence, she was nominated as youth Ambassador for Diabetes.

The guidance of Dr. Jhingan & his support till date for her has turned out to be exemplary in more ways than one. She was a brilliant child from the beginning and did very well in studies as she holds 3 Master degrees along with CFA. She has worked with renowned banks & MNCs and travelled abroad for work as well. While searching for marriage prospects, we struggled a bit as most families rejected her when they came to know about her Diabetes. But she was bold enough and made sure that families should know about her completely the moment they showed interest in her profile.

She clearly mentioned Diabetes in her profile. Ultimately we found the family & her husband who didn’t have any objections with her Diabetes. They accepted her happily the way she is. By God’s grace both of them are living happily in London wherein she continues to work with a renowned UK Bank.

ANJALI

I was 5 year old when I got a fever and took medicine from my general practitioner, assuming it would be the seasonal change fever, in spite of the fact that it was getting progressively worse. After my doctor recommended a full body checkup, my parents learned I have Diabetes Mellitus. As the first child of my parents, my parents were shocked and unsure how to deal with the situation. My parents did all they could to get me recovered while unaware that this disease would remain with me my entire life and our life took a drastic change. My father even tried sending my case at an international level with the help of medical associations with a hope to find some solution but no positive outcomes. I spent almost a year being hospitalized and taking insulin shots before every meal.

Upon Dr. Jhingan’s umbrella of motivation, I met Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, then President of India at President House on 2nd June 2004, He said beautiful words : "If God is with us, then who can be against us". I have completed my Masters in Computer Applications and started my career with a respectable designation in the organization.

Being of marriageable age, DDRC also launched a website for Diabetic Matrimony and made me the youth member of the association. Life was always a challenge but with motivation and support by Dr. Jhingan and my Parents it never felt like that I have some sort of illness. When destiny has been written by God then no one can come as a hurdle in between - I met my life partner in my office back in 2014. It was his decision to marry me despite his parent’s decision who were against our marriage. Now we are a blessed family with a son who is 6 years old now and is studying well in a good Institution. I am more conscious about my health since I got married, and I go for a full body checkup every three months. Motivation & support have always helped me overcome challenges in life. Whether in the office or among friends, I always keep my near and dear ones apprised of my hypoglycemic symptoms, so they can provide the needed sugar.

SAMEER

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was in 12th standard. After years of medications and insulin, I made lifestyle modifications under the guidance of Dr Ashok Jhingan and was able to proactively manage it.

I never let diabetes terminate my dreams. After completing my 12th standard I went to Bombay and joined Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts. I learnt contemporary jazz and western forms of dance. I did many shows with him including CWG in Australia. Later I Started teaching dance under Shiamak Davar Institute For Performing Arts as an Assistant Dance Instructor.

Presently, I started my business as a distributor of Samsung with my father.

SIMRAN SIKKA

When I was diagnosed with diabetes.. I was 22. I was young & there was a lack of awareness as well. My first reaction was that I asked my family doctor how much time needed to treat diabetes. It took me time to realize that it was a lifelong ailment.

My husband and my Family were very supportive.I read a lot about diabetes and followed Dr Jhingan. I went with my husband for the first time to Doctor Jhingan when I was pregnant. My sugar levels were uncontrolled at that time. I had to ride the roller coaster of my blood sugar highs n lows with tremendous difficulty. It was difficult for me to get my blood sugars back on track at first.I had to learn to live with it and manage it well so that it doesn’t hamper my normal routine.

Under Dr.Jhingan’s guidance I was able to monitor my sugar levels religiously. He always motivated me to do my best. Then I learnt that the key to manage diabetes was to be consistent, eat healthy & stay physically active.

SONU AND MONU

In the year 1990 Mr Gupta brought his twins Sonu and Monu to our clinic. Both of them were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and were prescribed insulin. Mr.Gupta had a public Telephone booth. He got depressed due to limited resources and said "let them die". He could not afford the cost of insulin. So, we started providing insulin free of cost to them. Since, both the children were Diabetic we started counselling sessions for the parents to reduce their depression and anxiety.

After a few years of diagnosis both the children were doing well. They have managed well so far.

Suddenly, one day Mr Gupta passed away due to a heart attack. It was a big psychological trauma for the family. Now, the elder one is working, got married and is having a child. While the other one is having diabetes related problems and undergoing treatment.

I recently met them and offered all my support. This incident was the turning point in our life and it led to the beginning of a new journey. As the number of such children increased we started adopting the children who could not afford insulin and provided them with a free quota of insulin and free consultation every month.

KRISHIV AHUJA

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was two years old - August 2009. It was the worst and most unfavorable event that took place till now. On that day,my parents noticed that I was feeling very lazy and sleepy so then they took me to a clinic. The doctor advised me to give glucose as it was summer season so I might feel better. So ,my parents gave me glucose as advised by the doctor but suddenly I started taking long breaths and my hands and legs started shivering. Then, my parents took me to Ganga Ram Hospital and as soon as I reached there my blood sugar levels spiked to 750 mg. Due to unavailability of the beds I was admitted to BLK Hospital for 15 days days where I was injected with a number of insulin injections.

I got to know about Dr Ashok Jhingan through various articles in several newspapers. I met him at the Annual Diabetic Meet organized in 2014 by him since then I am under his guidance.

My mom learnt to give me insulin, how to check the blood glucose and how to maintain the sugar diary. After sometime I began going to school I got in contact with helpful teachers, friends and staff. They were very cooperative with me. I always used to take part in all the functions in my school and my mom would go with me to check my sugar levels.

I am a good narrator, debater and painter. I also learnt skipping and skating. I have taken part in State, District and National level skipping competitions. Till now I have won many medals, trophies and certificates in all the fields in which I was good at. Whenever I felt discouraged, my mother would always tell me that "God only gives struggles to those who are capable of winning them". I feel blessed to have such inspiring parents.

ATUL ANAND

I am Atul Anand. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes around 42 years ago. I had high fever and when I visited my doctor he advised me to immediately go for some autoimmune test which I got tested from AIIMS. That time I came to know that my sugar levels are very high and was advised to go for insulin treatment . I had major issues of hypoglycemia as my sugar levels used to drop at night sometimes even to 27 - 32mg /dL. Thereafter, I consulted Doctor Jhingan and he advised me to go for Continuous Insulin Pump Therapy which was not so common at that time. I was able to control my hypoglycemia and now my HbA1c always remains between 6.2 -6.4%.

In 2017 I was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (liver cancer). This happened due to my occupational hazard, caused due to some little prick injury.

I am blessed with two daughters who are well settled and married. My younger daughter is having two sons and they all are till date having no issues related to diabetes.

I got retired in 2019 from my Indian operations but still continue with my active life as Scientific Research Officer in an independent Clinical Research Organisation in the same line without having any issue. I have never seen diabetes as a challenge in my career as sometimes I had to leave for my work at around 4 o'clock in the morning and come back around 1:30 midnight and this has never been seen as an obstacle in my professional career.

Presently, at the age of 63 I am leaving for Canada to join my new opportunity as a Senior Scientific Research Officer in CRO in Canada.

ALOK BUDDHIRAJA

In the year 1997, at the age of 12 years I got admitted in hospital for sudden weight loss and frequent urination. After spending a few days in the hospital, the Doctor informed us that I have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes for which I have to take insulin.

I was too young to understand what had happened to me . At the age of 12 years I started taking 2 insulin/ day as advised by the doctor. Relatives and friends raised lots of questions, and gave suggestions to my parents. Many advised my father that diabetes can be cured with homeopathic or ayurvedic medicines, so we should not take injections . Many relatives said that allopathic medicine is not good for health ,in the long term it has too many complications.

After 1 year under the influence of friends and relatives my father tried ayurvedic treatment to cure Type 1 diabetes permanently. This resulted in high blood sugar levels. After 3 days again my father rushed me to doctor Jhingan’s clinic who advised me to stop ayurvedic treatment immediately and start insulin as advised earlier. On that day I understood and accepted insulin as a part of my life.

I changed my lifestyle and started following the doctor's advice. After completing the school ,I got admission in Engineering College and after completing the engineering in 2006 I started my career as field Engineer in a Multinational Company which is said to be a difficult job, as all the time engineers have to be in the field no matter what. I managed to perform my role in the field for 7 years of course by managing the diabetes with regular checkups and proper diet as advised by my doctor.

One fine day it was just like another working day. I visited a customer place where I met a girl who turned out to be my life partner in 2013.Same year 2013, I was promoted in my professional career and changed from one MNC to another. Now I am 37 year old working as a manager in a leading MNC, happily married and by God's grace blessed with two sons. I strongly feel that a person with Type 1 diabetic can do everything and diabetes can never be a hassle in achieving your dreams and goals.

AAKASH AND PRAKASH GOEL

November 2001 was the best time of our life. Everything was going well in our life. Our twin sons were born on 3rd November 2001. The whole family was full of joy. Suddenly, in August 2002 Aakash, suffered from fever and cough. We took him to a physician nearby and he prescribed medicines for fever. But after 5 days he also continued having fever and he fainted. We rushed him to Gangaram Hospital where the doctor informed us that he slipped into a coma. After 48 hours he regained consciousness. Doctors informed us that he has Type 1 diabetes.

We had never heard or had any idea about Type 1 Diabetes as no one in our family ever had diabetes. We thought that if his sugar levels were raised, he would eat medicine and would be fine.

Doctor explained to us about Type 1 Diabetes and told us that Aakash has to take insulin throughout his life. We were told to give him three insulin injections in a day and also to measure his sugar level 7 times in a day.It was very shocking for us and we were not able to understand how we will manage all this.

One day through an advertisement we got to know about' Diabetes Mela'. I took my son there where I met Dr. Ashok Jhingan. I listened to his speech and I asked a lot of questions. All my queries were answered and we got to know a lot about diabetes and ways to manage it.

Since then ,I have been referring to Doctor Jhingan for my sons. My both sons are identical twins. My other son Prakash was also diagnosed with Diabetes in 2004.It was a huge financial burden for us. But doctor Jhingan and his organization DDRC gave us a huge support.

Now my sons are 21 years old and undergoing teacher training. By God's Grace and Doctor Jhingan's support both my sons are doing good.

I'm really thankful to Doctor Jhingan. He always helps people in need. I am really thankful to his organization and team for the support and guidance.

AARAV AND PRANAV SETHI

I, Vinod Sethi, want to share my story with you. I have 2 sons, Aarav and Pranav. Aarav the elder one got Type 1 Diabetes 25 years ago. In the initial days, we had very little knowledge about handling this problem.

We faced many problems such as School protocols . They didn't let my child participate in sports, and would send him home whenever he didn't feel well. We were referred to contact Dr. A.K. Jhingan and the staff, especially Mr. Saji Thomas. Doctor advised us to inform the school about the problem of low blood sugar and how to handle it.

Dr. Jhingan and his team gave full support and guidance and regular supply of insulin and glucose meters for many years. It all helped Aarav in building his career. He passed MBA in Finance. He got a job as a Senior Executive in Paytm. He is married and has a daughter.

My younger son Pranav is also Type 1 diabetic and he was also supported in the same way. He is doing his Masters in Web Designing. We are thankful to Dr. Jhingan and his team.
